How we verify

Halal trust depends on a visible process.

HalalScan is designed for packaged-food decisions where trust matters. The app should not act more certain than the data allows, so the verification method stays explicit.

Data sources

HalalScan starts with public product databases and ingredient records. When manufacturer statements or clearer product context are available, those sources help refine the result.

Public product and ingredient data for packaged foods
Manufacturer context when a label depends on source
Certification and label review where available

Decision method

Every scan leads with the verdict first, then the reason. If a source cannot be confirmed, HalalScan uses needs review instead of pretending the answer is final.

Verdict first: halal, haram, or needs review
Ingredient reason shown after the verdict
Uncertainty is surfaced clearly, not hidden

Correction loop

Community flags and corrections feed a review loop. That gives HalalScan a way to improve future results when a product changes or the original data is incomplete.

User-submitted flags and corrections
Review before changes are trusted
Updated product memory for future scans

What HalalScan does not claim

HalalScan does not replace trusted halal certification bodies.

HalalScan does not treat unresolved source questions as settled facts.

HalalScan does not hide uncertainty behind a vague score.
